Niwaki Mini Crean Mate
Niwaki Mini Crean Mate is a rust and sap eraser. The harsh reality of gardening means that your prized, pristine tools won’t stay pristine for long once you start using them. Sap and other dirt can build up surprisingly quickly and, if you don’t take action, begin to affect performance.
Carbon steel not stainless steel rust can also begin to build up, especially if you leave them lying about in the garden.
The Mini Crean Mate is an essential part of your maintenance kit to help you keep your tools in tip top condition, year in year out.
Please note: The block has an abrasive texture and might scratch highly polished surfaces, so do give it a patch test before using on your best blades.
Top tip
Use the Clean Mate as you would an eraser.

How to use Clean Mate
It is important to keep your tools clean for optimal performance. Follow these easy steps to ensure the longevity of your tools.
- Before putting your tools away for next time, make sure to remove any existing leaf resin, rust and gunk using your Clean Mate.
- Simply add a little water or use the Camellia Oil and rub away the rust and sap before you sharpen.
- Keep a cloth handy to wipe off the resulting muck, then protect your newly cleaned blades with a little Camellia Oil using a dry cloth, making sure to store in a dry place.
